In over 25 years with the City of Miami Department of Fire Rescue, Chief Freddie has served in many positions such as Engine Company Driver Operator, Rescue Squad Paramedic and a Company Officer on both an Engine and Ladder Company. He also served as a recruit instructor providing entry-level training to 55 present Miami Firefighters. Chief Freddie rose to the rank of Chief Fire Officer in 1999 and is currently the ranking Battalion Chief for his shift. He oversees a battalion with a shift strength of 145 personnel, with 14 stations covering 34 square miles that responds to over 250 calls per day. In addition Freddie oversees the Technical Rescue Team as well as the Advance Scuba Dive Team.
Chief Freddie has an extensive teaching background in public safety with both Firefighters and Police Officers. His EMS experience includes basic first responder up to Advanced Cardiac Life Support. In the Firefighting arena, he has instructed basic firemanship, driver-operator practices, strategy and tactics, and officer development and promotional preparation courses for all ranks. Chief Freddie has degrees in EMS and Fire Science.
Since 1999 Chief Freddie has specialized in test preparation for entry level and promotional candidates in the Fire Service and other Public Safety agencies. During this time he has facilitated, prepared, assessed or participated in numerous examination processes. Additionally, he has conducted seminars and private training sessions for hundreds of candidates with spectacular results. Over 50 of Chief Freddie's students have attained the number one score on their promotional exam. Join the list.
